Weisenburger enters his first season with the Somerset Patriots and first in the Atlantic League. The right-handed backstop spent the first seven seasons of his professional career in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. That includes three years of service at the Triple-A level (2014, 2016-17). He owns a .355 career on-base percentage in the minors, and has never had an OBP lower than .320 over the course of a single season.
Known primarily for his defense, the Minneapolis, Minnesota native was twice named by Baseball America as the top defensive catcher in the Brewers organization (2013-14). With 2,616 chances behind the plate, Weisenburger has committed just 41 errors. Additionally, he has thrown out potential base-stealers at a 28% clip over his career.
Weisenburger enjoyed a strong winter in the Australian Baseball League where he hit .292 with six home runs and 22 RBI over 34 games with the Brisbane Bandits. He has 19 home runs and 131 RBI over his seven-year professional career.
